How can you prove that your shipwreck ceramic shard is genuine?
Each Tradewind Treasures item – cufflinks, earrings, ring, pendant, bookmark, brooch, bracelet – is engraved with a serial number. This serial number is recorded in a Certificate of Authenticity which outlines the PROVENANCE of the item i.e. tracing the shard to the 17th century Ming Dynasty Blue-and-White kraak ware that was part of the shipment of the Portuguese merchant ship coming from China and heading for either Batavia (Jakarta) or Malacca. The intact artifacts are known as the Wanli Collection. The shipwreck is called The Wanli Shipwreck.
For proof of provenance you can:
Contact the archaeologist, Sten Sjostrand (stensjostrand@gmail.com) responsible for the discovery and recovery of the Wanli shipwreck.
Check out History Channel’s (Asian footprint) series of insertitials entitled “Secrets of the South China Sea” which focuses on the shipwrecks discovered and recovered by Sten Sjostrand in conjunction with the then Malaysian Department of Museums and Antiquities. One of the subjects covers the Wanli Shipwreck.
Order our Proof of Provenance DVD (5 USD/online shop) which documents the different shipwrecks recovered by Sten Sjostrand, one of which is the Wanli Shipwreck.

CUSTOMIZED orders are different from a large order because of the nature of our product.
What are CUSTOMIZED orders?
A Tradewind Treasures item MADE-TO-ORDER specifies the type of shard motif and overall design. For example the CUSTOMISED order can be for 50 peach flower (shard motif) pendants in a teardrop shape. Some motifs are more available than others simply because they are illustrated on every kraakware plate. Some, like the Chinese longevity symbol (Shou Lau) are rare.
